【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedureformeasurementofultrasonicattenuationcoefficientsforadvancedstructuralceramicmaterials.Theprocedureisbasedonabroadbandbufferedpiezoelectricprobeusedinthepulse-echocontactmodeandemittingeitherlongitudinalorshearwaves.Theprimaryobjectiveofthistestmethodismaterialscharacterization.1.2Theprocedurerequirescouplinganultrasonicprobetothesurfaceofaplate-likesampleandtherecoveryofsuccessivefrontsurfaceandbacksurfaceechoes.Powerspectraoftheechoesareusedtocalculatetheattenuationspectrum(attenuationcoefficientasafunctionofultrasonicfrequency)forthesamplematerial.Thetransducerbandwidthandspectralresponseareselectedtocoverarangeoffrequenciesandcorrespondingwavelengthsthatinteractwithmicrostructuralfeaturesofinterestinsolidtestsamples.1.3Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoestablishfundamentalproceduresformeasurementofultrasonicattenuationcoefficients.Thesemeasurementsshoulddistinguishandquantifymicrostructuraldifferencesamongsolidsamplesandthereforehelpestablishareferencedatabaseforcomparingmaterialsandcalibratingultrasonicattenuationmeasurementequipment.1.4Thistestmethodappliestomonolithicceramicsandalsopolycrystallinemetals.Thistestmethodmaybeappliedtowhiskerreinforcedceramics,particulatetoughenedceramics,andceramiccompositesprovidedthatsimilarconstraintsonsamplesize,shape,andfinisharemetasdescribedhereinformonolithicceramics.1.5Thistestmethodsetsforththeconstraintsonsamplesize,shape,andfinishthatwillassurevalidattenuationcoefficientmeasurements.Thistestmethodalsodescribestheinstrumentation,methods,anddataprocessingproceduresforaccomplishingthemeasurements.1.6Thistestmethodisnotrecommendedforhighlyattenuatingmaterialssuchasverythick,veryporous,rough-surfacedmonolithicsorcomposites.Thistestmethodisnotrecommendedforhighlynonuniform,heterogeneous,cracked,defective,orotherwiseflaw-riddensamplesthatareunrepresentativeofthenatureorinherentcharacteristicsofthematerialunderexamination.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
